Sega Makes Ugliest Wii Game Ever

The news came down yesterday that Sega's upcoming Nights: Journey of Dreams for the Wii will utilize the Wii Weather Channel to affect in game conditions. There were two problems with the announcement: First, the Wii Weather Channel is seriously broken, showing six hour old incorrect information. Second, it came with a screenshot that IS THE WORST LOOKING CRAP I'VE EVER SEEN. Flat, blurry ground as far as the eye can see, with five trees, four mushrooms, and some pixelly-ass lightning. Ack!

Sonic and the Secret Rings Sucks

Sonic and the Secret Rings is the worst Wii game I've ever played. I don't know how it fared as well as it did in reviews (71% average according to GameRankings.com). For starters, you never really feel like you're in control of Sonic. He's just doing his own thing and you can make suggestions every once in a while, which he is in turn slow to respond to (what we call "sluggish controls" in the biz). The production of the whole thing is atrocious, with awful story sequences that feature dull art, grating voice acting and some of the worst writing I've ever seen. Anywhere. The needlessly complex menu system is soundtracked by ear-searingly shitty rock music that seems to be on a thirty second loop of ear-searing shittiness. I'm not generally a Sonic hater, I liked me some Sonic Rush for the DS, but his Wii outing lacks the speed and thrill of the great Sonic games of yore. Please, just take his fucking voice away, throw him on a 2D plane and make him go REALLY FAST. It's not that hard.
