Happy Galactic Independence Day

Happy Independence Day! July 4th of course marks the date of the battle of Endor, when the Rebel Alliance destroyed the second Death Star, and Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker killed the tyrannical Emperor along with his cruel enforcer, Darth Vader. This crippling blow to the Galactic Empire gave citizens everywhere the courage to join the fight for freedom and a return to inter-planetary democracy.

No Weekanerd this week, but for New Yorkers like myself who actually stayed in New York this holiday weekend, here's where you can watch the fireworks.

Last year, Gnerd celebrated July 4th with Independence from Space Aliens and this handy reminder of what went on in our non-fictional history.

The "Nub nub" song has always seemed more celebratory to me than the new ending song. It shifts into the finale song quite nicely as well. This is not to say that the new song is bad, in fact, I really like it. I just think people don't give enough credit to this first song.
..maybe it's just the memories it holds with me...
