Weekanerd NYC: Science, Cinema Shoot-Em-Ups, Air Guitar and iDork Party

Monday, August 13, 2007
Last week Geekanerd had a lot of informative fun at Super Science Club, so here's another discussion group led by Columbia science professors that seems to have a similar, informal vibe. This month's topic is the past and present of satellite instrumentation, and how that relates balloons in space and dark matter. Science-fictiony! $10 cover that includes one drink. • iDork Night
  • 9pm @ Magnetic Field Cocktail Lounge, 97 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn
This might just be a typical bar party, but the fact that it's being thrown by Pocket Protector Productions made it hard to resist mentioning. Plus it's free! The website write-up says to expect the best in current and past indie sounds. "Sounds" like a good time to me.

Great example of an American director takin' a ride on the French New Wave.

Did you see Air Guitar Nation? This is like that, but live. Or at least the contestants are alive. The music is still pre-recorded. $18.50, tickets still available as of Tuesday night.
